Phaser is similar to chorus and flanger but have a phase cancellation, it's actually quite hard to type out the differences between all 3 effects. It's much easier to hear the differences! Phaser overall sounds more subtle compared to the "jet engine" which is flange. This perhaps makes it slightly smoother and easier to control.
