Think of this pedal as a volume knob similar to the one on your guitar, but much more user friendly. Some people do misunderstand this pedal, while it technically is an attenuator, its main purpose is to go in your pedal chain somewhere to handle volume. Other attenuators, or power attenuators, are often used to tame the volume of a loud amplifier so you can use it for bedroom playing without the neighbours complaining. The signal pad can do this, but there are likely more suitable options.
