This pedal is an external tap tempo foot switch for pedals which don't originally have one, but do have a spare control jack.
If you have a Boss pedal you'll need the Normally Closed version.
For practically all other pedals the Normally Open version will work.
However Strymon pedals are a little different and won't work with either.
Completely passive.
